Some of you may have noticed that Rocket League is leaving Game Pass soon. But fear not friends, because the developer Psyonix just announced they are moving it to free to play starting next week! The game loading screens recently implied it was heading to F2P “this summer” but withheld a date until now.
Rocket League has already captured the hearts of so many gamers, but moving to F2P will only help expand the player base further. Don’t feel bummed if you recently purchased the game though, as anyone who plays Rocket League prior to it’s transition will receive “legacy status” and exclusive DLC. Other new features coming in the free to play version are new competitive tournaments, game-wide challenges, and a season structure featuring “Rocket Pass.” Prepare to tier up your level and unlock a ton of stuff along the way! The Endo Starter Pack and Jager Pack will also be available starting the 23rd:
Endo Starter Pack
- Gaiden Wheels (Grey)
- Neo-Thermal Boost
- Friction Trail
- 500 Credits
- Jäger 619 (Titanium White)
- Apparatus Wheels (Titanium White)
- Toon Goal Explosion (Titanium White)
- 1000 Credits
As part of the move, an update will hit tomorrow at 12pm ET and include several things. First is cross-platform progression, where you will be able to link your platforms to an Epic Games account. Some Rocket League branded DLC and legacy status will also be updated tomorrow too. Finally, the game will join Epic’s Support-A-Creator program.
Rocket League will head to the Epic Game store starting September 23rd and be free to download. Make sure to let us know what you think about this announcement over on the Generation Xbox forum! And check out our news page for all the latest on Xbox gaming.
