Resident Evil Showcase Discussion and Release Date

2021 marks the 25th anniversary for Resident Evil. Today, there was a Resident Evil Showcase revealing future plans for the anniversary. This includes RE: Verse, an in-universe crossover multiplayer game with various characters from the series.

However, there were also announcements regarding Resident Evil Village. What particularly caught our attention is that the game will come out on Xbox One alongside next-generation consoles. That’s awesome because it gives those who haven’t made the leap to the new consoles yet a chance to play it.

Not only that my friends, but they also announced the official release for the game. Resident Evil Village releases on May 7th, 2021 worldwide for Xbox Series X, Xbox One & PC. It’s a little later than most RE releases, but if it’s a thrilling game then of course it’ll be worth the wait.

Maiden Demo for Resident Evil Village

There was also the announcement of a demo for Resident Evil Village called Maiden. In this demo, you don’t play as Ethan Winters. Instead, you play as the character only known as “The Maiden”. No combat at all, just pure first-person atmosphere.

This is pretty similar to Resident Evil 7: The Beginning Hour where it was also nothing but atmosphere that had it’s own story canon to the game. It’s only available right now on Playstation 5, but every other console will have the game sometime in Spring.

Overall, this was a pretty good showcase for the series. I hoped there would be an announcement for the expected Resident Evil 4 Remake since they have teased it, but there was still plenty here to get fans excited. Here’s hoping every title showcased ends up delivering the goods. The series has been on a roll lately with it’s releases, so hopefully Capcom keep said momentum going.
