Resident Evil has been popping in recent years. From the horror revival of Resident Evil 7:Biohazard to the stellar remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. The future looks bright for the Capcom IP.
Resident Evil 8: Village hits the Xbox Series consoles next year. Although particular plot details are unknown we do know that the game will center around Chris Redfield and Ethan Winters.
But what of our other fan favourites?
We last saw Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in the amazing Resident Evil 2 Remake. With them now set to reappear in an upcoming Netflix CG-Animated series slated for a 2021 release. The series, named Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, will be canonical to the saga, as Netflix have revealed.
Much like Resident Evil 8, there isn’t much in the way of particular plot details. All we know is it will chronicle a new story for Leon and Claire.
In terms of aesthetic, Leon appears to have his Resident Evil 6 look. Donning a dark leather jacket, signature floppy hair and stubble. Claire on the other hand wears her typical red jacket, which we last see her wearing in REmake2. She does also has this look in Resident Evil: Revelations 2, set near 6. My belief is that the series will be set after the events of these two games.
This isn’t the only RE-centric TV and movie project scheduled to release with more on the slate. Netflix has also announced plans for a live action series starring villain Wesker’s children set in Raccoon City.
The future of the Resident Evil series looks very promising and it is clear that Capcom has a steady plan in place for the next year.
Resident Evil 8: Village hits the next-gen Xbox consoles next year and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is expected to release next year also.
