Pulse Red Joins the Line-up of Xbox Controllers

Yesterday, Xbox announced a brand new Pulse Red controller in a post on Xbox Wire. The new controller launches on February 9th for $64.99.

This is the latest addition to Xbox’s new line-up of controllers. Carbon Black, Robot White and Shock Blue released in November to coincide with the launch of the Series X|S. You can see a picture of the controller below.

The Pulse Red controller boasts the same features as these other controllers, such as the share button, hybrid D-pad and textured triggers and bumpers. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port so that you can easily plug and play.

Of course, this Pulse Red controller isn’t just for the new Series X|S consoles. It will also be compatible with the previous generation of consoles, including the Xbox One, One S and One X. You can also connect it to a Windows 10 PC or Android devices using Bluetooth. This makes it convenient for use across Xbox Game Pass, whether you play on console, PC or mobile.

Unfortunately, this Pulse Red design doesn’t hint at any potential acquisitions, unlike the previous Shock Blue variant which generated countless rumours that Sega would become part of Xbox Game Studios. However, we can see that Xbox are sticking to simple designs for now. This is possibly because they don’t want to overshadow the relaunch of Xbox Design Labs in the coming months. Xbox Design Labs allows players to pay an added premium to create their own custom designs. The service originally only offered the previous Xbox controller that shipped with the Xbox One. It went offline in late 2020 and will relaunch this year with the ability to customise the new style of controller featuring the share button.
