FIFA 21 Won’t Include Cross-Play of Any Kind

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the upcoming version of its soccer juggernaut will not include cross-play of any kind. That includes across consoles and across generations.

In a tweet from the FIFA Direct Communication account, this was confirmed this past week:

In short, if you buy FIFA 21 and the Xbox Series X, you will not be able to play with any of your friends who also have FIFA 21 but have not upgraded from the Xbox One family of consoles. You also won’t be able to play against anyone on PS4, PS5, or PC.

The tweet did stress that any saved progress, including progress made in FIFA Ultimate Team, will transition from the Xbox One version of FIFA 21 to the Xbox Series X version.

FIFA 21 releases on October 9 and can be pre-ordered here.

For all the latest on FIFA 21 and all the big sports game releases, keep it with Generation Xbox.
