CD Projekt Red have delayed Cyberpunk 2077 again to December 2020.
Today, CD Projekt Red announced that highly-anticipated upcoming title Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed yet again. It will now launch December 10th 2020, a delay of three weeks from the previous release date.
Head of Studio Adam Badowski and CEO of CD Projekt Red Marcin Iwiński explained the reasoning for this delay further in the post on Twitter. They shared that, although “we achieved gold master some time ago” and Cyberpunk 2077 “is ready and can be completed”, the team are now hard at work on the debugging process. “This is the time period we undercalculated”, said the pair. The pair specifically discussed the challenge of having to “prepare and test nine versions of (Cyberpunk 2077)” across different platforms. They also addressed how significant this delay was in preparing for a smooth launch. They said that, although it might not seem as if 21 days could make a big difference, “they really do”.
As previously mentioned, Cyberpunk 2077 will now launch on December 10th. This is three weeks later than the previous release date of November 19th. The game has faced numerous delays over the past year due to various factors. CD Projekt Red previously planned to launch the game in April 2020, but the team delayed it until September way back in January. It was then delayed again until November during the Summer. Fortunately, it seems like this most recent delay is far less significant than previous ones.
