Call of Duty Corner: Week of August 31st 2020

Welcome to the first edition of a weekly article I will be curating to provide all new Call of Duty details. I will focus on the current Modern Warfare and Warzone, as well as the upcoming Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The news of the week is more details being revealed about the upcoming sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. A gameplay trailers reveals a lot of interesting details about the upcoming game. It seems that perhaps it will span over a decade in duration. Also, how about the visuals on Ronald Reagan?!

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release on November 13th 2020. While the Xbox Series X still does not have a release date, this game should be arriving right around the same time (I hope).

You can pre-order the Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle, or Ultimate Edition now. They are priced at $59.99, $69.99, and $89.99, respectively.

If you select the standard edition, the Xbox One version will be backwards compatible for the Series X. But selecting either the Cross-Gen or Ultimate bundles will give you free access to the Series X enhanced version at no additional cost. The latter editions also give you a number of other goodies pictured below.

Perhaps the most intriguing bonus for pre-ordering the game is early access to the Beta. Finally, the trailer largely revealed a sneak peak at the campaign. Don’t fret though, the Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal will happen on September 9th.

Modern Warfare + Warzone

A variety of game modes were added this week including Games of Summer, Search and Rescue, and King Slayer.

Games of Summer is a series of mini-games testing your dexterity, speed, and general skill. Race through obstacles to win legendary weapon blueprints. This mode is available until September 7th. The final day of this will award double XP, double weapon XP, and double battle pass tier progression.

Search and Rescue is a hybrid game mode of sorts. Ensure that you collect dog tags of enemies you kill. If the enemy captures your dog tags you are out of the round. But your teammates can also collect yours to keep you in.

King Slayer, a popular Warzone variant, returns this week. Several players are marked as Kings on the map. Search for and kill the kings to obtain additional points and kill streaks! To my delight, Blood Money Quads also makes it’s return this week.

Make sure the check here every Tuesday for your weekly dose of Call of Duty news!
